NEW GAME DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
Fixed an issue causing the game to incorrectly show a Boat or Music Disc instead of a Recovery Compass in the bottom-right UI
Fixed an issue causing an error message ("Expected variable not found in ancestor tree") to appear when opening the villager trading UI in some cases
Enhanced a fix that stops the player sleeping percentage from resetting to 100%, when it should be 20%
Fixed various errors that could be seen in the Pack Info screen
Removed the Paperdoll UI from container screens, to improve response times and reduce potential lag
Quest completion now uses scoreboard objectives rather than player tags to improve performance
Playtime counters are now more accurate, and can now track hours and days played - shown in the Hub UI
Adjusted the alignment of the Hub's UI, so that the picture aligns better with the pressure plates
Fixed an issue causing block-breaking particles and smoke particles to be missing/corrupted (mostly in pre-release builds)
Changed the texture of Totem of Undying to be invisible, to allow better visibility and as a workaround to an undocumented issue
Updated the server to 1.21 - Introducing new enchantments, mobs, structures, weapons, abilities and more!
Added Reps: A new currency used in the Item Shop
Reps can now be earned by killing passive mobs (+1 Rep) and hostile mobs (+2 Reps)
Added the Item Shop - allowing players to trade Reps and playtime for exclusive rewards!
Overhauled the Quests system - advanced tasks, Rep rewards, new UI and more!
Added new UI for every quest, making it easier to use and allowing us to make more quests in a smaller footprint
Added a new SideBar UI showing player stats, becoming more detailed as you enter the Hub
Dev note: We're experimenting with this, and may use it for other projects in the future.
Dev note 2: A simplified version is currently permanently visible. We plan to remove this after we find a fix for a current bug.
Added 6 new Trails - a new cosmetic type available in the Item Shop
Added 1 new Tag - a new cosmetic type available in the Item Shop
Dev note: Tags are experimental - There is currently only 1 available, and this will expire for a new one at the end of Season 6.
Added a feature where if you throw any item named 'Hub' on the floor, you will be teleported to the Hub
Added new icons for enchantments, making them to recognise
Changed the "Leave Server" button to have a green colour, even when not selected to make UI navigation clearer
Added Enhanced Smoke Physics - smoke will rise into the atmosphere based on the volume and density of fire, creating a cloud of smoke.
Dev note: Smoke diffuses when it hits a block, so tight spaces won't have smoke physics applied. Performance will remain consistent!
Added Ash Rain - dense smoke clouds will begin to fall particles from the sky!
Updated the block-breaking animation to appear as a clear, defined circle
Perk Updates
Changed text settings to show Perk updates on the Actionbar rather than the title space
Dev note: This change is under review, and is in place because it is a workaround to a current issue. We also see practical improvements with Perk Notifications being displayed this way (e.g. prevent gameplay disruption), but the situation will be monitored.
Perk Balancing Changes
Reduced the power of the Saturation perk by 3 multipliers (from 5 to 2)
The Dogs Update
Microsoft has added their own version of this system - the SMP had it first! Regardless, we hosted a vote on whether we should remove the update. We had a 60% majority, so I removed it.
'Events' Hub Section
With Adam's Theatre Event now concluded, our future events are in development. Since there's no point having an empty room, we've replaced it with the Shop! Don't fret - events will return, using our new UI rather than a whole room.
Paperdolls in Inventory UI
To improve performance, we've disabled the view of your character in various Inventory screens. We hope you see the benefits of this change!
An update on MineKart and The Arena
We're well into testing, and The Arena will release first. Please know that we are starting to develop this, but many months will be needed to make this update. Gen 2.2 was originally going to be the Arena Update, but due to performance issues, we have had to delay it.
When travelling to the Hub, you may notice a flash of text appear on-screen before disappearing
We are looking into this, but it isn't fully preventable - it depends on various factors like internet speed, server performance, etc.
Hearts and the health bar may appear to jiggle around
We're observing this issue but currently don't have a fix ready. Most players remain unaffected.
Some NPCs may appear to look up or tilt their heads when interacting with them
This is a funny one - we're looking into it.
Items may seem to disappear (then reappear) when being moved around the inventory
We think this is related to a Minecraft issue, but we're looking into it. As a workaround, don't use quick move.
There are some other undocumented issues that we are monitoring, but these issues don't affect gameplay!
